Looking into living at our Artillery House apartments, located on Byrom Street? Maybe you’re new to the area or want some more details into what the neighbourhood is like. Either way, here at Manchester Apartments, we know the importance of finding your perfect city centre home. This guide will help you discover all the amenities around you whilst living at Byrom Street. 

Our Byrom Street apartments are situated in Spinningfields, which is at the heart of the business community and the largest commercial district in the city. Nestled between Deansgate and the River Irwell, Spinningfields is home to high-end eateries, luxury shopping and opulent accommodation aplenty.

Transport 

Located on the border of Deansgate and Castlefield, two of Manchester city centre’s trendiest districts, Byrom Street is located within a 15-minute walk to the heart of the city centre. If you don’t fancy the walk, Deansgate/Castlefield Metrolink station is just a stone’s throw away, bringing you to Piccadilly Gardens in just one stop.

First Manchester offer a completely free ‘hop on and hop off’ bus service, making traveling around the city centre totally effortless. The service runs past Beetham Tower, a two-minute walk from your apartment. From there, the bus travels as far as Manchester Piccadilly station. A great option for when you’ve inevitably forgotten your brolley and the heavens open – as they do here in Manchester.

Gym

Being based in the city centre means you’ll be spoilt for choice for most things, gyms being one. Your closest gym is the Bannatyne Health Club on Quay Street, an estimated two-minute walk away. The gym is fully kitted out, it even has its own pool and heath spa, as well as gym classes. Spinningfields is also home to a large Pure Gym which hosts over 50 classes a week, so you can be sure you’ll find a class that’s perfect for you.

Pharmacy 

Feeling under the weather? Whilst there are plenty of pharmacists scattered across Manchester city centre; Lloyds Pharmacy in Sainsbury's is your closest. Located on Regent Road, a 5 minute walk from your apartment, Lloyds offers extended opening hours and a vaccination service. 

Supermarkets & convenience stores

You’ve got loads of local amenities within the area. Your closest local is M&S Simply food. Turn right out of the block and you’ll find it at the bottom of the road. You also have a Tesco Express and a Sainsbury’s local within a 2-minute walk of your apartment. For bigger shops, Regent Road Sainsbury’s is situated in walking distance, along with Aldi located in the Arndale centre

Pubs and Nightlife

Manchester is best known for its nightlife, and Spinningfields is certainly not short of late-night trendy bars. The Alchemist, The Oast House and Tattu are just a few of Spinningfields’ finest options. If you want a more casual evening, head over to Castlefield – a five minute walk from your apartment, and relax at the canal site pubs, such as The Wharf or Barca.

Hair Salons

If you’re in need of a little pampering, there are plenty of options around you. Spinningfields is home to Swoon Hair. Their stylists work to create a personal look for you, taking into consideration your skin tone and bone structure. If you’re looking for treatments across Manchester try Treatwell. Treatwell is a European-wide app and website that will match you with local salons and beauticians at great prices, often offering top discounts too. 

Eating Out 

Spinningfields is a foodie’s dream, with everything from Wagamama’s to Carluccio’s right on the doorstep of your apartment. If you’re looking for food with a view, try Instagram famous 20 Stories, where you can drink and dine from 20 stories high. The Ivy, another ‘must see’ restaurant, is within a two-minute walk of your apartment. Bursting with style, The Ivy is home to ‘The Brasserie’ which specialises in British classics. ‘Ivy Asia’, is the Ivy’s late-night bar, offering Asian-inspired cocktails alongside small sharing dishes. Finally, the Ivy is also home to their spectacular roof garden where you can enjoy a cocktail amongst an abundance of flowers, plants and colourful fabrics.

Outside Spaces

We know the importance of connecting with nature, being based in Manchester city centre doesn’t mean you have to compromise on that. Byrom Street benefits from being located right opposite St. John’s Gardens, a rarity for city centre living. Castlefield, just down the road, also has a lot of open spaces including Castlefield Bowl – a recreational space overlooking the canal that once a year gets turned into a concert venue. For the remainder of the year, Castlefield is a quiet and tranquil space, you might even forget that you’re right in the city centre.
