3 Sparkling Places to Visit this Bonfire Night in Newcastle

For those who aren’t familiar, the 5th of November in the UK is known as Bonfire Night, which is celebrated each year with bonfires and fireworks displays across the country and dates back over 400 years. So, if you’re looking to celebrate in Newcastle this year, then you’re in luck. We’ve put together 3 events that are not to be missed and are sure to go off with a bang.

Lets start things off with a bang, shall we?

Newcastle Racecourse has been known to hold the best fireworks display in the Northeast, and not only does the racecourse display fireworks once the night draws in, but you can also enjoy numerous other activities throughout the evening.

The fireworks start at 7.00pm, with gates to the racecourse opening from 2.30pm – so if you want a good view, why not head down early? With a live DJ, food stalls, and drinks to entertain you before the show starts, it’s a no-brainer to head up to the racecourse for the evening.

Directions: From the city centre, get the 43 from Haymarket to the Newcastle Racecourse stop – taking you right to the entrance.

Newcastle Round Table

Newcastle Round Table also host a fantastic array of displays and entertainment for all ages, and located just above the city centre, this venue is easy to access with friends via the metro links from Greys Monument.

Gates are due to open at 5:00pm with the show starting from 7:00pm – with Round Table claiming there will be over ‘120 effects in the sky’ and funfair rides for all ages to enjoy.

This is sure to be a popular student hang-out for Bonfire night, with access to a range of delicious food and drink and is absolutely a good way to have some outdoor fun in the winter with your friends.

Directions: From Manors Metro station, board the yellow line to South Shields and depart the metro at Chillingham Road and walk 5-minutes to get to the Round Table.

Ouseburn City Stadium

Situated just a 20-minute walk from Newcastle Apartments lies Ouseburn have City Stadium and this year, those wanting to wrap up warm and watch the fireworks close to home, the local council have decided to put on a free show for anyone to enjoy which starts at 6.30 pm on the 4th of November.

With a variety of food and drink stalls surrounding the stadium, this will be super popular with students and young professionals who want to stay central but enjoy the magic of fireworks on bonfire night.

Believe us, it is going to be something everyone is talking about and an event not to miss – the vibes are next level.

Directions: You can easily access the City Stadium by walking through the Northumbria University City Campus and over the bridge over the A167 dual carriageway.
