6 Renter-Friendly Decorating Tips

We've all been there, moved into our own place and looking for ways to make it our home without the worry of saying goodbye to our deposit. A lot of renters don't know that there's plenty of ways to make your new space your own without risking your deposit - and we're here to share.

Your living room, or lounge area, is usually the heart of your home, so you want to make sure that it's a welcoming space that you feel comfortable in.

Cute Curtains

Curtains, drapes, however you want to approach it, there are loads that you can do to really work on this area and it will transform the rest of your room. Soft and sheer materials are a great way to keep the place full of natural light while providing a glam effect, or you can go bolder and heavier if you're not too fussy about brightness.

Rugs, Rugs, Rugs

Rugs do not get the level of appreciation they deserve for how they can rework a room almost instantly. You can do for lots of mini rugs and build up a layered effect across your floors, or you can go all out and get a huge one that almost acts more like carpet. It will bring a whole new vibe to the space you're in, and it'll keep the floors warmer in those colder months that are on the way too - a double win in our books.

2 Kitchen Decor Ideas

Whether you're a keen cook or more of a 5-minute meal prepper, your kitchen is a valuable space that you want to make the most of.

Colourful Appliances

This is such a simple and yet effective way to bring some personality into your space and add a bit of life. You can go for matching or contrasting colours depending on what vibe you want to go for, and you can do as many or as few things as you like. Go all out with the toaster, microwave, kettle, and air fryer all one colour, or soften it down with your pots and pans and knife sets.

Chopping Board Decor

This is one that most people overlook, but it's so easy and even more effective. Imagine this as an inedible charcuterie board, where you can display anything you like. Flowers in a thrifted vase, glass jars with cooking ingredients in, fruit bowls, you can really use anything and make something stunning. Pinterest is full of stunning ideas, so see what jumps out at you and make your own.

New Bedding

Bedding can completely change a room, and it only takes a few minutes to transform. We like to change colours according to the season; think soft floral pastels in spring, bright block colours through the summer, deep and dark for autumn, and a fun plaid for Christmas. You can also dress this up with blankets and dress pillows.

Green Space

Introducing some greenery to your bedroom space can revamp the space really easily, and allow you to do as much or as little as you like depending on your preference. You can go big and bold plants, like a Monstera, or you can keep things simple with a snakeplant and some vines.

Redecorating as a renter can feel daunting, but we promise, you can work around your worries of losing your deposit and still make your space feel like your own. Do you have your own renter-friendly ideas? Tag us on socials to loop us in.
