Treat yourself

Had a long day at Uni or work, and came home feeling a bit deflated? Treat yourself.

Had a fall out with your bestie, or your partner, and you just need something to make you feel better? Treat yourself.

Someone beeped at you on the road today and it stressed you out? TREAT YOURSELF.

Trust us when we say there’s few things in life that aren't improved by a cheeky little treat. We aren’t saying go out and buy yourself an entirely new wardrobe – but if you’re in a position to splurge, we ain’t gon’ judge – but picking yourself up with your favourite snack, a new book, a candle you’ve had your eye on for some time, now THAT is the perfect pick-me-up treat.

Clean home, clean mind

We bet your mum used to tell you this as much as ours did, and at the time, we didn’t buy into it; but as we’ve grown up, we’ve had to give credit to her, it really does make a difference. Being surrounded by mess and chaos quickly takes a toll on mental health, and having a big reset lets you clear all that physical mess, and tackles some of the mental mess too.

Move one room at a time, and we bet it doesn’t take long for you to feel some achievement and start to feel a bit better. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day, so you don’t have to do the entire place in one go, you can set yourself timers and tackle it bit by bit, but we bet that when that timer starts to buzz, you already notice a difference in how you’re feeling.

Movie Night with your Mates

If you didn’t know already, our WHOLE THING is about giving our residents what they want and what they need, so they can thrive when they live with us at City Co-Living Newcastle. That’s why when we picked out our on-site amenities, we knew that a huge one we could not forget was a cinema room.

Whether you’re a rom-com lover, or prefer to scare your feelings away with some gory thrillers, our cinema room is THE place for you to be. Simply book it for an evening, get your mates round, and kick back with some of your favourite films.

Get a workout in

If you’re in a bit of a slump, it can be hard to find the energy to start working out, but we promise, the natural endorphins that you release when you get moving will make a world of difference to how you’re feeling.

You can make this one work for you, so whether you fancy a gentle jog down the River Tyne for some of the most stunning views you can get in the toon, or you want to get involved in a workout in our state-of-the-art gym, we guarantee that you’ll thank yourself either way.

Cook your favourite meal

One of the quickest ways to pick yourself up is to treat yourself to something that brings you joy – and what brings more joy than your favourite meal? You’ve got plenty of options here, whether you have a favourite spot that you want to go and get something from, or if you’re up for it, cooking it yourself is even more satisfying.

When you live in City Co-Living Newcastle, you have your own private kitchen space, but you’re also able to book out one of our shared kitchens, which is perfect if you’re cooking for a few people and want somewhere to sit and enjoy it. It doesn’t have to be a 4-course meal, something simple is often the most enjoyable, and sharing with someone that’s important to you makes it taste that much better.

Walk along the Tyne

We touched on this earlier on, but we couldn’t help coming back to it. The Tyne River is the pride of Newcastle, with some quaint little shops and bars to explore on the way, and if you time it right, some of the most incredible views you’ll get in the toon.

Getting out and about for some fresh air is an almost instant pick-me-up, and when it’s paired with the beauty of the Tyne, it’s no wonder that this is one of our favourite spots in the city, and we bet it’ll become one of yours in no time, too.

How will you be spending International Self Care Day? If you’ve got other ideas, we’d love to hear about them – share them with us on our socials today.
