The new year has well and truly started, but we’re still finding stray baubles, bits of tape, and wrapping paper all over the place, which can only mean one thing; it’s time for a full January reset. If you’ve found yourself in a bit of a funk as we say goodbye to the festive season, or you’ve been slacking on your cleaning routine and it’s getting you down, we’re here to help.
This might sound like a bit of a stretch, but we absolutely swear by it. January is a hard month as it is, having to get back into the routine of work and not dipping into a box of Celebrations every 15 minutes, and if your surroundings have got away from you a bit, it’s easy to feel like you’re wallowing a bit.
Residing in a clean environment really does do wonders for your mental health, and the dopamine hit that you’ll receive from completing a big clean will help you to fight off those January blues and get you rearing to go in 2026. Get some of your favourite tunes on, blitz it room by room, and you’ll be surprised at how much better you feel at the end.
We find that our home feels super empty after the festive period, having been full of decorations and presents. While we love the clean feeling of putting all the Christmas decs away, it does make the place feel a bit cold, which is why we like to look at other ways to vamp up the space a bit.
There are loads of ways that you can do this, from new wall art or floor art – we’re talking a big, plush rug that makes a huge difference to a hard floor – but the main thing is to pick something that will bring you joy. If you’re an arty person, a new print from a local artist is a perfect choice. If you’re a hardcore caffeine fiend, some syrups in pumps and a milk frother gives you a great mini coffee-station in the kitchen that not only looks cute, but tastes great. You don’t need to spend a tonne to make your home more homey, and it will really help to curb those January blues.
If, like us, you cannot stand being cold, winter can automatically feel like the worst season. However, we’re turning to turn this into a positive spin, and a huge win of cold weather means getting cosy inside every evening. We’re talking scented candles, fluffy socks, a big thick knitted blanket, and a loaded hot chocolate. Dreamy, right?
It’s too easy to get dragged into the negativity of day-to-day life, but putting a spin on it is really easy and makes a huge difference. It might be cold and rainy outside, but that makes it the perfect time for your favourite dinner and stick on your favourite film or series. Whack the heating up, grab a cosy blanket, and kick back and relax.
