The Ultimate Guide to Newcastle Christmas Markets

There’s nothing quite as festive as Christmas in the ‘toon, and what could make it even better? The Christmas markets this weekend, of course. If you fancy visiting the iconic locations across the city, then you’ll be filled with festive cheer from the hustle and bustle of Christmas shoppers to the festive markets. We love to wander up Grey Street and gaze at the wonderful independent businesses and see what they offer up for a festive buy for our mates – and also a cheeky gift for ourselves. It is the giving season, after all.

Newcastle’s Christmas Markets

A bit of festive fun in the city is what we all want in the lead-up to Christmas, right? Well, Newcastle Christmas Markets return this Saturday and are running up to the 23rd of December – with so much to feast our eyes on. Located around the iconic Grey’s Monument, Grainger Street, and Eldon Square, there are three locations that you will most certainly pass through on your daily travels – so why not stop and take a look?

Filled with independent businesses from the Northeast, the markets are the perfect location to pick up a unique Christmas gift or to enjoy some delicious food and drinks. Let the mulled wine flow and the bratwurst crackle as you soak up the festive spirit.

Right in the heart of the city centre is Grainger Market, which is home to over 100 local independent businesses selling a variety of different foods, presents, and nick-nacks for all occasions. The best part about Grainger Market is that you can get all you need under one roof – how convenient, right?

So whether you need a Turkey to cook up for your Christmas dinner, a handmade gift to buy your best mate, or fancy a bite to eat from a variety of different food stalls; Grainger Market is the place to be this festive season.

Why not warm up warm in your cosiest winter coat and a fluffy beanie and head down to the Quayside Christmas Markets, on the beautiful riverfront of the Tyne?

Stretching out along the Quayside every Sunday, from the Swing Bridge to the Millennium Bridge, the historic Quayside markets are a must-do for some Christmas shopping in the heart of the ‘toon. These markets specialise in the quirkier side of stalls, something which we love, selling a range of items from independent businesses. From arts and crafts to handmade jewellery and even some unique food and drink options – there is something for everyone to explore here.

So, why not head into the toon this Christmas and explore the variety of markets that the town has to offer? From finding the perfect bratwurst on Grey Street to the perfect handmade necklace on the Quayside, you and your friends can have a field day exploring the markets this festive season.

Let us see your festive pics and tell us all about your favourite stalls this year on our socials.
