Whether you’re already studying in the toon, or preparing to move this September, knowing the student hotspots is key to having the best time in Newcastle. Make the most of your time in the toon, and visit our top 4 places to go as a student. You won’t regret it, we promise.
A theatre on the Quayside, Live Theatre is well-known for hosting new comics and theatre shows. This is a great opportunity to find some up and coming comics or performers, and trust us when we say that they know how to put on a show. It makes for a great night out, and you never know who you might see there.
The Outdoor Markets are always worth a visit, with a variety of independent traders, you can find clothing, jewellery, pieces of art here – and you know that you’re supporting a small business, which always makes it better. They’ve also got a dedicated street food vendor section, so if you get snacky during your shopping spree, they have you covered.
If you’ve moved away from home to study in Newcastle, we’re willing to bet that you had to leave a pet at home, and while that sucks, the toon has you covered. Head on down to Mog on the Tyne, a cat café perfect for those missing their family pets. If, for whatever reason, you’re not a cat person (we’re not judging, but we are giving you a bit of a side eye) they have the Dog and Scone next door where you can hang out with some dogs instead. Either way – they’re both great, and we absolutely love it in there.
Newcastle is a great city to be a student in, with all sorts of places to visit – if we’ve missed your favourite place, why not reach out on socials and let us know?
