If you’re looking for a cosy city-centre spot that delivers on both comfort food and atmosphere, Olive & Bean should be high on your list. Tucked away just off Clayton Street, this independent café has built a reputation for generous brunch plates, excellent coffee, and some of the most indulgent cakes in Newcastle. The menu covers all the classics you’d expect, from stacked pancakes and loaded sandwiches to veggie-friendly breakfasts, but what really makes Olive & Bean stand out is its homely vibe. It’s central, reliable, and the portions are more than satisfying. Whether you’re after a leisurely weekend brunch or just a quick bite before hitting the shops, Olive & Bean is one of those places you’ll find yourself returning to again and again.

Tucked right under the Tyne Bridge on the Quayside, Quay Ingredient is a go-to for anyone craving a relaxed but delicious brunch with riverside views. The menu leans into the classics done well - think eggs Benedict, French toast, hearty breakfast and brunch sandwiches, and always good coffee. Portions are generous and the atmosphere is friendly without being fussy. If you're heading down to the Quayside for a walk or plan to soak up the scenery, this is one of those cafés where you can sit, chat, and watch the world go by.

Right on Newcastle’s Quayside, The Hooch offers a relaxed mix of café, bar, and live music space with sweeping views of the Tyne. It’s perfect for a lighter brunch - think pastries, paninis, cakes, and great coffees. By evening, it shifts into a lively bar with cocktails and DJs, but during the day, it’s a stylish, laid-back stop for a mid-morning bite or riverside catch-up.

Newcastle has plenty of great brunch spots up for offer, these are just our current go-tos – but we’d love to hear about your fav spots to hit up. Head on over to our socials to let us know where you’d recommend.
