How to celebrate the Spring Equinox in Newcastle

Spring is here so it’s officially time to say goodbye to dark days and hello to pretty sunrises and longer nights – we can’t wait. Cue the sunshine, birds, and bees coming out, and let’s prepare for the Spring Equinox the right way.

If you don’t know what the Spring Equinox is, then don’t worry, we’ll clear it up for you. The technical explanation is that it’s when the sun sits directly over the Earth’s equator as it heads north, meaning the sunlight is more exposed to us and for longer periods – therefore, it's recognised as the first day of spring. What better way to say hello to the warmer weather than by celebrating the equinox in the right way?

Write down your goals for spring

In the winter a lot of people struggle with their energy levels due to spending a lot of time indoors, and with a lack of vitamin D, we can often avoid healthy habits. The Spring Equinox is the perfect time to relax and regain your energy after the short days in the winter and one way to leave those negative feelings behind is to write down your feelings over the last three months. Writing down the mental, and even physical experiences you’ve had during winter can help those negative emotions be released and you can process these and move on to bigger and better things for the rest of the year.

With ways to celebrate the Spring Equinox, why not head outside, start that new hobby, and write down your negative feelings, leaving them in the winter and preparing yourself for spring?
