To live in the UK as an international student or professional you may require a visa issued by the UK government. You can find out more information here.
By law, the UK requires anyone applying to rent a residential property to prove that they have the legal right to reside in the country. This will include any visas.
You will need to provide proof of identity to apply for a tenancy, including a driving licence, recognised student card, proof of address, or your passport.
You’ll need to complete and sign an application form before moving in, in some circumstances a guarantor agreement may also need to be completed.
This agreement will need to be reviewed and signed by all tenants that will be living in the apartment. Only those named on the tenancy may legally live in the property.
To secure your property you are required to pay a holding deposit upon the application of your tenancy, and once accepted, your first month’s rent will be due, as well as proof of a standing order.
