Our team in our Westpoint building recently held a charity event for Care Venezuela and managed to raise an impressive £1800 throughout the day.
Formed by a dedicated group of volunteers from Venezuela who now live in Manchester, Care Venezuela is a UK charity that has been working hard to raise money since 2017. Their mission is to raise and send donations to vulnerable communities living in Venezuela, and to provide access and funding for those unable to access basic healthcare and safe, clean water in their homes, as shortages of medical supplies in the country have led to 88% of public hospitals lacking essential supplies.
Our Westpoint building was filled with stalls set up in the Westpoint social area for both the residents of the building as well as the public, offering a variety of Venezuelan specialities, including pan de Jamon, empanadas, patacones, with the crowd favourite proving to be cake tres leches.
As well as food, there was sugar cane juice and Cuba libre with Venezuelan rum, providing something for everyone to enjoy throughout the afternoon whilst donating to an incredible cause and making a huge difference to those in Venezuela who will be helped by this charity.
Both the residents of Westpoint and the external visitors throughout the day had a wonderful time while raising money for this incredible cause, with over 300 people contributing and being a part of the event.
