All true Geordies know that the Quayside is where you need to be if you’re looking to have a cracking night out in the toon – so we’re about to let you in on some of our favourite spots that you should check out. Whether you’re looking for a tasty bite, a couple of drinks, or to dance your heart out, we’ve got you covered.
The Quayside is home to some of the best spots to eat in the whole of Newcastle, and we’ll keep it real, narrowing it down to two was not an easy task, but these are the two that we reckon everyone has got to try when they’re out in the toon.
Who doesn’t love a tasty bowl of pasta? Zucchini Pasta Bar are famed for their daily handmade pasta, which they still make traditionally to give that real authentic taste and feel to every meal. We’re an absolute fiend for their fettucine carbonara, and if you’re feeling brave, grab a slice of their ciabatta garlic bread and pizza sauce dip – it’s absolutely incredible.
Dobson and Parnell is an absolutely stunning choice to visit, and we bet that you'll absolutely love it. The team behind Dobson and Parnell have won a host of awards, and the restaurant is even listed in the Michelin Guide. We know, right? Their menu reflects their incredible reputation, and if we were you, we'd recommend leaving room for dessert; specifically the strawberry and pistachio pavlova. 10/10.
After you’ve had a bite to eat, it’s time to move out and try a few spots for a good drink. Whether you’re a classic pint drinker or you like to play with fancy cocktails, these are two great options to check out.
Having evolved from The Old Fox – we know, they really did well with the names, didn’t they – their aim is to provide the locals of Newcastle with a variety of the best local, national, and even international beers and ales you can get your hands on. They’ve also got plenty of spirits behind the bar, so you’re covered no matter your tipple.
The Pitcher and Piano is a great spot for a few warm-up drinks, offering out plenty of classic cocktails as well as some house creations which are our favourites – their Flossy Bop, served with a side of candyfloss, is a must-try. They also have a 2-4-1 offer on cocktails Monday-Friday 12-7pm, so you can save yourself a bit of cash and still enjoy a few drinks, ideal.
Well, we’ve lined our stomachs, had a few drinks on top, and now it’s time to get on the dance floor and show the toon what we’re made of. There’s plenty of great clubs in Newcastle, but these two are our favourites, and if you’ve been before or pop in for a visit, you’ll see why very quickly.
Known for being the place to party all day and all night, Howlers is the perfect place to go if you want to raise the roof and really have some fun. They offer live shows, a karaoke den, and they’re the only bar in the toon to offer a ball pit, too – what more can you ask for from a night out?
With a name like Popworld, you sort of know what you’re getting into – think a huge dance floor, various local DJ’s, all the cheesy music you can handle, retro wigs, glasses, and inflatables to make your photos even more fun, Popworld have got it all. Get yourself down there for one of their Pop Party Saturdays, and trust us, it’ll be a night you won’t forget.
No matter what kind of night you’re after, you’ll find the perfect places in the Quayside. Have you tried any of these places, or do you have somewhere else in mind you want to share? Reach out on our socials and let us know!
