If you’re gearing up for the festive season, we’ve got great news for you. We absolutely love to get our Christmas décor up nice and early, and we’ve got plenty of fun idea on how you can decorate without breaking the bank – or losing your deposit for your rental apartment. If you’re looking for some inspo, or just want to see what we’re up to, then read on.
This is an easy one – and a pretty obvious one – but something that a lot of people will overlook, which is why we want to cover it. You might think that you don’t have the space for a full Christmas tree, and you certainly don’t have somewhere to store it for the rest of the year when it’s not up – which is why opting for something smaller can be a better option. There’s plenty of range in sizes, so whether you want something teeny tiny to put as a centrepiece on your table, or if you’re looking for something that’s a few feet tall without being an absolute monster, you’ve got lots of options to see what works best with your space. You can also decorate in any colour scheme you like, which is where things get really fun.
If you’re not keen on a full Christmas grotto vibe, but still want to have some nudges of Christmas in your home, you can update your soft furnishings. Think throws and blankets, cushion covers, maybe even a rug, in those rich Christmassy colours, reds, greens, and golds. If you like a pattern, there’s always snowflakes, reindeer prints, or the more subtle but still recognisable gingham vibe, but you can just stick to block colours if you’re not too fond of those. This is a great option as it makes a really big difference in your home without being over the top, and you can reuse them for other events as well.
There’s more to making your home feel Christmassy than purely decorating – bringing in the scent of Christmas will make the place feel instantly more welcoming and cosy, and is a great way to make a big change with minimal effort. Whether you’re a fan of candles and wax melts, or prefer something that you can just leave unattended, like a reed diffuser or a plug-in air freshener, there’s plenty of options for everyone. Our go-to Christmas scents are typically orange and cinnamon blends, or anything vanilla-based that make the place smell like baking – but fresh pine scents are also a popular choice.
We absolutely love adding a bit of glitter and sparkle to our homes over Christmas, and it’s a super easy option that you can make work no matter your style. Colourful tinsel around doorways, fairy lights around window frames, hanging decorations that catch the light – there’s plenty of ways that you can incorporate a bit of sparkle into the home that you can find in shops for a reasonable price. We’re not about breaking the bank when we decorate, so looking for bargains is always a must, and we think you’ll be surprised with some of the bits that you can pick up that will make for a really cute addition to your home.
How do you like to decorate for the festive season? Whether you like to go all-out or prefer to keep things a bit more subtle, we’d love to see. Tag us on socials to share your décor.
