Food is the key to the heart

Who doesn’t love pizza, right? Well then, this Valentine’s Day why not make the most of this sure-fire win by making your very own pizza on a budget – and even form your dough in the shape of a heart while you’re at it? How absolutely adorable.

So, how do you make that perfect pizza you ask? :

Step 1 - To make the base, add flour into a bowl and stir in yeast and salt. Follow this by pouring 200ml of warm water and olive oil into the bowl and bringing it all together with a wooden spoon until it’s soft and wet. Turn this onto a floured surface and knead for 5 minutes until smooth, cover with a tea towel, and set aside.

Step 2: To make the sauce, mix passata, basil, and garlic with salt and pepper. Leave this to stand at room temperature whilst you make your heart-shaped bases.

Step 3: Roll the dough into a heart-shaped base, or whatever shape you would like, on a floured surface. Your base needs to be very thin as it does rise in the oven to make the perfect pizza crust. Once you have shaped your dough, lift the bases onto floured baking sheets ready to prepare your toppings.

Step 4: Heat your oven to 220C. Put another baking sheet in the oven on your top shelf. When you have done this, you can then add your toppings, smother the bases with sauce and scatter with toppings of your choice before baking each pizza for between 8-10 minutes and voila. The perfect pizza to indulge in with your loved one while staring into their eyes. Don’t forget that cheese pull.

Get your crafting skills on

This year why not be sentimental and try and make something for your better half that is a little unique? By making your gifts for each other, not only does it bring sentimental value but it also shows that you have put time, effort, and thought into your symbol of love for your other half by making them something that comes from the heart. This gift could be something as simple as something you may have an inside joke about, or you could even make your own Valentine’s Day card with a poem inside – no, we’re not talking glue sticks and glitter, but if you fancy it, we’re sure they’d appreciate it. Wherever your crafting skills level use them to the best of your ability this Valentine’s Day for the other person in your life who means the most to you.

Fancy some fun?

Fancy something a little bit different from the comfort of your sofa this year? Well then, how about making a couple’s quiz? Whether you have been together for 10 months or 10 years, there’s always something to quiz yourself on about your other half. Whoever makes the quiz, it doesn’t matter, or you can even do one like those viral videos of couples at weddings lifting their shoes to say who is the messiest. Whatever suits you and your partner best, crack open a bottle, get comfy, and start quizzing.
