4 ways to practice self-care in Manchester

Feeling stressed out? Overworked? Finding it hard to set aside time for yourself? We hear you — and let’s face it, we’re all guilty of not putting ourselves first now and again.

It’s true, though, that self-care is incredibly important for keeping our minds and bodies happy. The good news? It doesn’t have to be a full-on spa day, or a meditation retreat in the middle of nowhere (we need Wi-Fi, thanks!). From yoga to yoghurt, Manchester’s packed with fun ways to put yourself first and give your mood a boost.

International Self Care Day is coming up on the 24th of July, but at Manchester Apartments, we believe self-care should be practised 365 days a year, so with that in mind, here are our favourite ways to practice self-care in our favourite city.

Exercise in a way that feels good for you

It’s no secret that exercise is one of the easiest (and best) ways to practice self-care. Just 30 minutes a day provides a healthy boost of well-being hormones called endorphins, known to relieve stress and promote general feelings of positivity.

So, if you’re up for lifting your spirits (and some weights) with a workout, here’s one of our favourites based right in the centre of the city.

Puppy Yoga

Already a huge hit in major UK cities and beyond, Puppy Yoga is taking Manchester by storm. Providing a healthy serotonin boost along with all the usual health benefits of yoga (flexibility, improved posture, stress relief), this is a paw-fect opportunity to make some new furry friends while working out some stress.

We can’t think of anything better than boxing off our daily workout AND getting some puppy cuddles, can you?

Treat yourself to something you love

If you’re anything like the Manchester Apartments team, treating yourself is one of your favourite ways of practicing self-care. Now, don’t get us wrong, this doesn’t have to be anything too fancy, but gifting yourself that little something you’ve been eyeing up the past few months is a surefire way to cheer yourself up.

Luckily, Manchester is one of the best places in the UK to take yourself shopping — and here’s our favourite place to do just that.

Whether you rock up at Foundation for breakfast, brunch, or a late lunch, you won’t be disappointed, and with three (soon to be four) locations in Manchester, you’re never too far away from one!

For us, nothing spells out comfort like hot buttered crumpets, sticky toffee French toast, and, of course, a good chocolate brownie, and this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Foundation’s unreal menu.

You know what they say: ‘healthy body, healthy mind’ — and with Acai and the tribe’s menu packed full of fresh, tasty ingredients, you’ll be well on your way to both!

Their bowls are heaving with scrumptious toppings like cacao, honey, vanilla granola, and nut butter and are the perfect post-workout, guilt-free treat.
