Now that summer is over, it’s time to grab your cosy jumpers, fluffy socks, and embrace the autumn months. There’s lots to love about autumn, but one of our favourite things has to be all of the autumnal recipes that we get to crack out and enjoy now it’s turning a bit colder. Whether you’re looking for a new staple recipe to add to your meal plan, or just want to experiment with something new, we’ve got some great ideas for you.
You can’t go wrong with a soup recipe in the autumn months, and we’re a sucker for a classic flavour. Making a tomato soup from scratch is actually super easy, and there are so many options to customise it and make it your own which is something we like to take advantage of when we’re feeling a bit adventurous. Roast some tomatoes with any extra veggies you like and plenty of seasoning, and then blend with a broth for a nice, smooth, warming meal. Don’t forget a slice of your favourite bread to dunk!
Can you tell we’re really enjoying the classic recipes this month? Again, a chicken pot pie is a simple dish, but you can add almost anything to your taste to make it your own, and really have fun with it. It’s also a great option if you’re having friends over and want to share a meal together – if you’re feeling really brave, you can shape pastry on top to show off your crafting skills and cooking skills at the same time.
Now, we’re not saying that we’ve got a sweet tooth, but we would absolutely demolish this in record time if it was in front of us right now. Bread and butter pudding is an absolute classic – we can’t stop ourselves, we’re sorry! But the addition of toffee apple is an absolute game changer and we can’t believe we didn’t try this sooner. Tasty doesn’t even begin to cover this one, and we’re already drooling at the idea of this covered in ice cream, or custard, or anything, really.
We’re pretty sure that it’s a legal requirement to have some sort of pumpkin-spiced treat during the autumn months, and these pumpkin muffins are a perfect choice. Full of cinnamon and gingery goodness, these are our go-to treat during the colder months and they make for a great snack – they also make your home smell absolutely delicious when you’re baking them, which is an extra win.
What are your go-to recipes when the weather gets colder? We’d love to see what you’re cooking, or if you try any of our recipes above – tag us on socials to share.
