The Autumnal Equinox is fast approaching, and it’s the perfect time to rebalance yourself from the summer months and begin the transition into the autumn and winter period, trust us. There are plenty of ways that you can celebrate the Equinox this year, but we thought we’d just share our top 5 with you – so settle in everyone, it’s about to get autumnal in here.
It can be all too easy to forget to pause and appreciate what you have around you, and the Autumnal Equinox is the perfect time to take some time and reflect. Whether you’re thankful for living in the best ‘toon in the UK, or just for being healthy and surrounded by some of the friendliest people you’ll meet, we’d love to know what you’re grateful for.
Meditation can be an incredibly calming and fulfilling activity, encouraging you to let go of any stress that you’re holding onto and really relax. You might choose to find some outdoor space and connect with nature while you do this – we’d recommend visiting Grey Street Gathering to sit and contemplate, but there are plenty of places you can check out nearby.
Although this hasn’t exactly been a summer to remember with the weather we’ve been having (so far!), there’s still time to get out and enjoy all the sunshine we can, and the Autumnal Equinox is a great time to get yourself outside and enjoy a good ramble around the area. Newcastle is in the heart of an absolutely beautiful and historical area, with plenty of places to explore. Did you see our bike trail article a few weeks back? If not, check it out here and get yourself some inspo for your next expedition.
We’ve all heard of a spring clean, but an autumn clean is just, if not more, effective (trust us!). Having a big clean is a great way to clear your mind, and it also allows you to get your home ready to be made nice and cosy in time for those autumn evenings rolling in. We’re thinking of a pumpkin spice candle, a hot chocolate, and maybe even a Halloween film – or is it too early for that? (The answer is no. It’s never too early.)
We will take absolutely any excuse to get a good meal in, and the Autumn Equinox is a perfect reason. There are plenty of options that you can explore, so whether you get a few friends and head to your favourite café or go on a nature ramble and pack yourself a picnic, take some time to treat yourself to some good food this equinox. Personally, we recommend heading down to I Scream For Pizza on the Quayside – they do a belta pie.
We hope that you have a brilliant Equinox, and if you’ve got a way to celebrate that we’ve missed, let us know on our socials!
