More and more people now partake in Lent, whether it’s an opportunity to better their physical or mental health, or to try something new. We’re all for getting involved, but we also know that it’s too easy to over-commit and then end up guilting ourselves for breaking it early. We’ve put together some productive, realistic ideas for Lent, so that you can feel a benefit without burning yourself out.
If you partook in Dry January, this one will be easy – but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t do it again. A great option for those who have a busy social life and find themselves out and about a few times a week, committing to cutting down on your alcohol intake has a number of benefits, both physically and mentally. Grab yourself a Diet Coke and raise a glass.
Almost everyone is guilty of this at one point or another, so Lent is a great opportunity to try and reduce those hours. Whether you’re a doom-scroller on Instagram, or a serial swiper on tik-tok, your screen time builds up fast, and is probably higher than you even realise. Setting yourself time limits on your most-used apps will help you keep your screen time down and allow you time to focus elsewhere.
It’s always a good time to try and start boosting your savings, which is why it’s a popular choice around Lent. You might choose to stop buying your morning coffee and saving that money as well as cutting down on your caffeine intake, or aim to save a certain amount each week throughout Lent. However you choose to approach it, just make sure that you’re keeping it realistic – there’s no point setting yourself up to fail.
What will you be giving up for Lent? We’d love to know.
