4 Green Spaces To Visit In Manchester

Sick of being sat inside, or that feeling of being surrounded by the hustle and bustle of city-centre living? We get it. Being based in the heart of the city has its perks, but it also has some negatives, the biggest one being the lack of immediate green space. Thankfully, we know a thing or two about the hidden spaces within the city, and we think it’s time that we share them with you.

Right next to the Whitworth Art Gallery – which is absolutely worth a visit for anyone interested – Whitworth Park is a great space for anyone looking for a bit of nature and culture combined. A perfect spot for a picnic with your mates, some solo sunbathing with a good book, or even some good old-fashioned dog spotting, it’s super easy to get to and offers a calming space to wind down and relax in the sun.

For anyone based over in Ancoats or the Green Quarter, Angel Meadow Park is an idyllic space with some absolutely beautiful views. It isn’t a huge park, but it offers everything that you need it to, with space to sit and relax or paths to loop around for anyone looking to get their steps in.

Sackville Gardens

You’ll find Sackville Gardens tucked away behind Canal Street, and is a prime spot for a lunch date in the sun for anyone working within walking distance. It often has events held on the Gardens, so you can sometimes walk into a completely new experience, and it’s nice and central to make it an ideal meeting spot for those based around the city.

Okay, this one isn’t quite in the city centre, but it’s not far away, and we can’t not mention it. Head on over to Salford to find Peel Park, a stunning space with riverside walks, plenty of open space, and even the opportunity to see paddleboarders as you explore.

Green space seems like a rarity within the city centre, but when you know where you look, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to get out and feel at one with nature. If you know of any other spots that you want to share with us, head on over to our socials and let us know.
