The 6 best burger places in Manchester

There’s no doubt that Manchester is filled with restaurants serving up smashing burgers, so choosing our favourites was no easy task, but, after some serious consideration and a little bit too much taste testing (can you ever have too many burgers?), we think we’ve got it pretty bang on.

Meaty Burgers

If you’re a sucker for a juicy, meaty burger - whether it’s beef, pork, or chicken - we totally get you and want you to only have the very best. These three burger joints will have you swooning over their elaborate burger menus, and you’ll wish you knew about them much sooner.

Slap and Pickles

Having first made its mark in Leeds as the undisputed burger and loaded fries go-to spot, Slap and Pickles have finally graced us with their presence in Manchester as one of Society’s very best vendors. This place is seriously passionate (and seriously good) about cooking up the best smash burgers in town using only the freshest ingredients and the best quality 40-day dry-aged Swaledale beef. It’s this love for the patty that meant they’ve been able to open their doors in 5 different postcodes in just 4 years.

Bearded Feeder

Have you ever heard the saying ‘the best things come in small packages’? Well, this is *kind of* like that. Bearded Feeder is a modest little burger stall firmly planted in Piccadilly Gardens, what’s not so little however, is their juicy burgers practically overflowing with meaty and cheesy goodness. They specialise in smashed beef and pulled pork burgers and they crush it every single time, plus they’re happy to customise each burger to make it perfect for you – beef and pulled pork in one? Say no more.

Street Guys

Let us let you in on one of Manchester’s best-kept burger secrets… Street Guys. Although it doesn’t look like much from the outside, especially given that it’s hidden down a Deansgate alleyway, their burgers are some of the best we’ve ever tasted. Think of a perfectly cooked beef patty (or three) and layers upon layers of deliciously melted cheese… our mouths are watering just thinking about it. Best of all, you can get a meal with fries for as little as £4 if you order in-store – you can thank us later.

Veggie and Vegan Burgers

Veggies and vegans don’t think we’ve forgotten about you. For those that prefer to see cows in the fields than on their plates, Manchester’s plant-based burger scene does not disappoint. Here are three restaurants that’ll hit the spot.

Vegan Shack

If you’re anything like us then you’ll agree that the best vegan burgers are the ones you wouldn’t even be able to tell are vegan. Vegan Shack does it exactly like that, I mean have you seen their Chick’n Burger? It could’ve fooled us. Seriously though, not only are their burgers good lookers, but they’re also incredibly tasty and healthy so you can satisfy that fast food craving completely guilt-free.

Wholesome Junkies

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, Wholesome Junkies are one of the best vegan eateries in Manchester, and their burgers deserve all the rave, which is why we’ll never stop talking about them. With 9 different burgers on the menu, from a Kimchi burger to their newest addition, Korean cauli burger, you’ll be absolutely spoilt for choice and best believe you won’t leave hungry as they’re pretty heavy-handed with their portions, which is never a bad thing.

The Vurger Co

The Vurger Co does exactly what it says on the tin, they cook up some of the best vegan burgers in town and to ensure they never miss, they’re constantly perfecting their recipes which explains why their menu has just had a complete revamp. They were already good before, but now you can expect another level of exceptional flavours from their meat substitutes, fresh veggies, and homemade sauces. It would also be rude not to mention their totally instagrammable, pretty, and pink, Northern Quarter restaurant, serving up photo ops as well as vurgers.

Well, there you have it, our tried and tested top 6 restaurants for beefy burgers and veggie vurgers. If you’re inspired to try one of our suggestions then we’re dying to know how you found it, let us know on Insta or DM us with your favourites that you think should make the list next time.
