The second the weather turns, we’re ready for Soup Season. Chicken noodle is a classic choice, and is super flexible so you can throw in anything you’ve got in the fridge to use up odds and ends to avoid waste and make something delicious. Chicken noodle soup is a go-to when we’re not feeling our best, and we like to chuck in a smidge of ginger to boost our immune system and give it a tasty kick. Grab yourself some crusty bread and your favourite bowl, this is a staple in our meal plans during the colder months.

A lot of people will shy away from a risotto recipe thinking it’s too much work, but in reality, you can keep it simple while still getting a delicious, hearty meal. We couldn’t resist going for a pumpkin flavour, really channelling the autumn vibes – and this is a perfect idea if you’re planning on carving pumpkins but don’t want to waste all of the inners. The key to a good risotto is to go low and slow – keep the heat down, and add ingredients gradually. Trust is, this is an absolute winner.

French toast may well be the key to our hearts – it has to be one of our favourite options and is always the first choice on a brunch menu. French toast is a really versatile meal, so you can customise it to your liking, and for the autumn months, we couldn’t resist absolutely smothering it in cinnamon. Soft and sweet on the inside with a stunning crunch on the outside, this is exactly what we need on a cold morning to kickstart our day and give us a little sugar lift.

If you haven’t had parkin before, it’s a gingerbread cake that’s incredibly popular across the North, especially during the Autumn months. Our favourite option is to keep it classic with lots and lots of ginger, but you can customise it if you’re feeling fancy and want to jazz it up a bit, you can add in pears or bananas, or even go down the rum and raisin route. We’d happily sample any of these flavours smothered in custard, we’re just putting it out there.

What are your go-to Autumn recipes? We’d love to see what you’ve been making, or if you try out any of these ideas – just tag us on social to share the tasty love.
